Snowman Crafts – Christmas Candle Stands

Hey all, thanks for stopping by Bitterroot DIY!

For more project ideas, you can find me on Pinterest. And to stay up to date with the latest shenanigans, follow me on Instagram.

We had our first snow here in Minnesota recently and it got me thinking about all the great things that come with snow, particularly snowmen! Since I’ve been on my Christmas-decoration-making binge lately, I figured I’d work in some snowmen along with the other crafts.

What better combo than snowmen and wine glasses! The only downside was that since I was using the wine glass for the craft, I had to drink straight from the bottle during this project…

Juuuuuust kidding… or am I… 😉

Tools & Materials:

  • Wine Glasses
  • Black, White, Orange, and Red Acrylic Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Ribbon
  • Christmas Floral Pieces
  • Pinecones
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue
  • Tea Candles (to put on top of the snowmen)

Step 1.

Paint the cup of the wine glass with a thick coat of white paint.

Next, blot another coat of paint on with a foam brush to give it a sort of rougher, bubbled look (rather than painting it on nicely like your first coat). The more blotted look is very snowman-y!

Allow the paint to dry slightly between each coat. It only takes about 10 minutes for the paint to dry enough to put on the next coat. I used 3 coats total.

After using your foam brush to blot the paint on, you should have something like this:

Once you like the look, let the paint dry completely. It takes a while for it to dry completely, so you’ll just have to have another bottle glass of wine until it’s dry.

Step 2.

Paint the stem of the wine glass with a thick coat of black paint. I used a standard paint brush for the stem to give it a smoother look than the cup. Totally up to you!

Again apply a few coats, allowing the paint to dry slightly between each coat.

Once you like how the stem looks, allow it to dry completely.

Next bottle of wine.

You get the routine 😉

Step 3.

Paint the face of your snowman onto the cup of the wine glass. This is the fun part! Each snowman can be different, or they can be the same…whatever you want!

Once you’ve finished the face, let it dry completely.

Step 4.

Add Ribbon, pinecones, and your Christmas floral pieces to the wine glass stem. I simply tied the ribbon on and then used hot glue to add the rest of the pieces.

Now go enjoy those little snowmen and continue to dream of a white Christmas!!!
