If you’re just joining, welcome to the Bitterroot Scrap Wood Series!

The what?

Head over to Day 1 to catch the beginning of the shenanigans, as well as our exciting news.

Long story short – I’m sharing a new scrap wood project every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in May and this is Day 2!

All you need is an old 2×4 … or pieces of a 2×4 … really … don’t even need the whole board.

Entré easy 2×4 nesting houses!

These are such a simple, cute piece of décor.

Set them on a console table, shelf, or bookcase. You name it.

They’re a great piece for modern farmhouse style.

Tools & Supplies:

  • Saw (any sort of saw will work for this)
  • Spray on Polyurethane

Lumber:

  • Spare 2×4

Step 1.

Cut your spare 2x4s to the desired height. Make as many as you want at whatever height works for you. I did a 7”, 5”, and 3”.

Step 2.

Mark the top center of the 2x4s. Cut off the corners at a 45̊ from the center mark.

Step 3.

Seal the houses with spray on polyurethane.

You can paint windows on the houses if you like that look.

Or use a jigsaw to cut windows out.

Or just leave them natural.
