Exciting Changes @ Bitterroot DIY

I know it’s the beginning of February.

But I’m just now getting around to the “where are we going in 2018” post …

Seriously … does anyone else work on a timeline like that? I swear I’m always one step behind … but alas, here we are.

Anyways …

I didn’t quite have a clear idea of where I wanted to go back at the beginning of January and was still working on finding a good direction and narrowing down my niche. It’s taken a while to figure things out, but I’m excited to say that I now have a much clearer picture of what I want to do. I’m sure it’ll still change as I go, but often the best things are unplanned, right?

Grab yourself a wonderful cup of coffee and let’s start with a walk down memory lane:

It has been a wild ride for Bitterroot DIY over the last year or so. When I first started this blog, it was actually called Little Bitti Living – after my favorite song “Little Bitty” (Alan Jackson) – and I wanted to share my tips and tricks for living simply and focusing on the small things.

I tried it for a bit, but it didn’t quite fit. Yes, I believe in living simply and enjoying the little things, but I hadn’t really nailed down what to share about that lifestyle.

Fast-forward a couple months and I discovered that I really enjoyed building furniture and DIY-ing ALL THE THINGS.

So I switched things up and re-branded to Bitterroot DIY.

The only thing is, I went way far into woodworking and building and lost a lot of the personality in my posts.

So I did a little more soul searching.

And, in my search, I found that I really enjoy home decor and want to share more of it.

Don’t get me wrong, building and DIY still have my heart. But I also enjoy making my house a home.

There’s something so special about building your own stuff, painting your own walls, and decorating exactly according to your tastes. It truly makes your house your own – a place you can be comfortable in and proud of.

So … drum roll please … I’m going to be introducing home decor and home improvement to the blog in 2018.

Ultimately, my mission is to inspire you to DIY your way to a beautiful home!

Let’s not waste any time!

I’ll start off by introducing one of my biggest influencers. One of the ladies that truly inspired me and made me believe that even I can learn how to decorate my home – Karianne at Thistlewood Farms.

Now … if you’re reading my blog, I’m sure you’ve already read hers haha πŸ˜‰ But I must give credit where credit is due, and she has been such a huge influence in my steps into home decor.

If you don’t know who she is, I highly recommend taking the time to read some of her stuff. She has the best DIY projects, sweetest stories, and simplest way of explaining home decor.

As you’ll see on her blog, she is releasing her second book in March –Β The DIY Home Planner (*NOT an affiliate link … just a friendly recommendation).

It is all things home decor and is The. Best.

I still can’t believe this happened, but I have had the honor of being a part of the book launch team and received my copy a couple weeks ago.

DIY Home Planner

I read it front to back in one evening, and that was the push I needed to introduce home decor on Bitterroot DIY.

Truth be told, if it gave me that much confidence with home decor, I know it can inspire anyone πŸ˜‰

From wall treatments to lighting to space planning to patterns, The DIY Home Planner is overflowing with ideas and inspiration for your home.

And.

My favorite part?

There are little pockets on the inside of the front and back covers to store notes, paint samples, ideas, etc … anything you want!

Stay tuned for my first home decor post at the end of the week. It’s a doozy, and I’m so stoked!

I’m also in the middle of my biggest build to date and can’t wait to share the plans in a couple weeks.

Big things are happening here at Bitterroot DIY, and 2018 is gonna be an adventure!

Let’s DIY our way to beautiful homes!
